We have now had 3 engines fitted in 3 years, and now this 3rd engine is overheating badly.
We have had 2 gearboxes fitted, and now this 2nd gearbox is beginning to clunk into reverse gear, the same as the other 2 gearboxes.
We have fitted a new ECU just 9 months ago.
We fitted a new radiator 9 months ago.
We have just fitted a new a/c condenser unit.
This vehicle should be a total embarressment to Nissan, but the service and back up from them has been very poor, their general attitude has been to try and avoid any commitment whatsoever to this vehicle and its problems.
To go through three engines and two gearboxes within three years on any new car is highly unusual. Although it is possible to have bought a lemon the first time, or have a second engine stuff up within a year due to poor workmanship when the engine was installed, it is more likely that a major contribution to all of these mechanical problems, would be a severe lack of maintenance, and especially with the gearbox, very bad driving habits by a person who may not be able to handle driving such a vehicle.
This review lacks any credibility as they say that service was poor yet Nissan was prepared to change the engine and transmision numerous times. I've done 150,000 on a (new in) 2003 3.0TD with no problems at all. This review is just way too unlikely to be true and more likely written by someone from a competing car company. I've got a Patrol and 3 landrovers and I accept that all the big 4wd's have their strengths and weaknesses, but this review is just bull!
