Recently changed engine gasket near timing belt.
Has a small oil leak on the oil sender.
Alternator, timing belt, PVC valve, battery, tires, catalytic converter, muffler, brakes discs and pads, pipe going to gas tank from cap rusted out, headlight selector is messed up, but works on different settings, heater fan can pull off tube if someone kicks it from passenger side, needs wheel alignment one tire severely worn on inside, CV boots are cracked.
Like any car you have to keep up with the general maintenance stuff like brakes, exhaust, etc.
The engine gasket didn't cost that much to change because the mechanics can work on it super easy.
This car doesn't owe me anything, it was super cheap to buy and regular maintenance costs are cheaper than any other car out there.
My auto wrecker charges almost nothing for parts.
As for safety my first Geo hit a Chevy half ton truck head on!!! It was a right off, but I came out of it perfect. Luckily the engine is designed to go under the firewall and not through it!!!
Its great in snowy conditions, but not so great on icy conditions due to its light weight. If you do get stuck it only takes one helper to push you out.
My insurance rates are also low.
The best part is at stop signs people let you go first because you are driving a Geo!!!
Just now ran across this thread, all I can say is I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! On my 3rd Metro and notice some "basic geo problems, but it keeps on crankin!!
