"An overpriced unreliable nightmare to own"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Transmission is not working properly at this time.

Ignition has been replaced once.

Passenger side wheel bearing has been replaced 3 times in last 5 years.

O2 sensor replaced twice since owning vehicle.

Owned car for only 3 months and the driver side speed sensor harness and sensor had to be replaced.

Brakes have had to be replaced once every year.

The alternator has been replaced twice.

Vibration in front end at over speeds of 100 km/hr. No one has been able to repair this.

Stereo would play cd's, but only for one or two songs, then quit. Out of warranty, so I had to purchase a non-stock stereo deck.

Tires wear out very quickly on this car.

Exhaust manifold had leak when vehicle was 2 yrs old.

Horn did not work a few months ago, when it was repaired it was lose wiring.

Relay fuse box needs to be replaced, but cannot afford it at this time.

Electrical nightmare currently due to problems with ignition relay and short in ignition wiring somewhere.

General comments?

I will not buy a GM or Chevy vehicle again.

I owned a 1997 Grand Am before this vehicle and it had a lot of problems as well.

I thought I was getting a nice new car

that I would keep until it was unrepairable.

With my budget, it is unrepairable and yet I need to keep this lemon as it is my only transportation to and from my employment.

This is the most costly and unreliable vehicle I have owned.

If I could afford a new car right now I would burn this car and wouldn't even bother to claim it to my insurance. I miss my 1976 Mercury Comet, it was easy to repair and less costly.

My Chevy Malibu will cost with repairs in the end more than what the purchase price was.

It is a comfy car with lots of room, and it was awesome for about a year, but then it's real Lemony personality

began to show.

Hi...I would like to know what kind of symptoms this person was experiencing with the electrical problems... I may be having the same problem.

Sounds as if this fella was abusive to his car. Wheel bearings, brakes, transmission? All indicators of an abusive owner. I have had MY '98 Malibu for three years and at 76k miles runs, drives and acts perfectly. NO problems here. Stop abusing your cars and they will run good. Abuse your cars and... well you get what you deserve.

I agree with the last person's comments. You CANNOT drive cars made past 1976 like they're cars made in the '70s! Cars these days were not built for that kind of driving. They're built as if we all live in Japan and are the most courteous and slowest of drivers. You have to baby cars nowadays and if you're continually putting brakes, transmissions, etc into a car that is only 5 or 6 year old, then, hey lead-foot, take a breather, slow down and drive like it's 2005, not 1975!

I have to disagree with both of you. All the problems that they are having we are having with our company car. Driven by a 68 year old lady. We all know she's not driving hard, she can barely see. But she gets where she needs to go. The problem with us is that the car only has 98k miles on it and like I said is being driven by an old lady once a day 10 miles to the bank. You say the car isn't a lemon, I say the car is a lemon tree. You can only dish so much money into a car before it's time to just give it up.

My horn is not working on my 99 Malibu. I was wondering if it is just loose wiring? For those who have experienced this problem, how much does it cost to have it repaired?

I disagree with the guys above saying how he is abusing the car. I drive the same car and every other month or so there seems to be another 'problem' that pops out of nowhere.
