1995 Alfa Romeo 155 TS 16V from UK and Ireland - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Front wishbones replaced.

Cambelt failed after 93,000 miles of hard use. Damage still being assessed.

General comments?

Awesome machine. Black widebody version with 16" black alloys. Looks as good as it handles. Eats Beemers and tyres. I'm on first name terms at the tyre place.

I've blown the engine and I still love it. BMW drivers sit in the passenger seat squeeling and clawing at the dashboard as you accelerate round a bend in the wet. VERY stiff suspension means it squeeks and crashes about on rough roads though. Who cares?!?

How did you blow the engine???

Presumably the cam belt snapped! The weakest links on any fiat / alfa twin cam engine are the cam belts; change every 36,000 miles. Even then, premature failure isn't unheard of.

I have a 1995 2.0 TS 16v 155, it's been a joy to own! Repairs wise, I seem to have an expensive year followed by a virtually free one. in the 3 years I've had it (£1200 in 2004), I've replaced the exhaust (£340 exc cat), oil pipes, discs and pads, and following your tale of woe, have booked it in for a cam belt change (£183).

I love the precision steering, the roar of the exhaust as it hits the 4000 rpm mark and its individuality! I get flashed and waved at by every other 155 owner I see! Try getting a response like that in a bavarian executive horse box! My beast of the road has now done 80,000 miles and still performs better than many "sports" saloons around! It's understated looks serving to astonish many an arrogant boy racer left for dust at the lights! Viva Alfa Romeo!

Hello I own a alfa 155 TS it's a lovley car handles well, but it was broken into recently and the door was damaged. This nackerd the water seal and a little bit of water got onto the fuse box. THE CAR WENT MAD everything started going on and off windscreen wipers wiping lights flashing horn blowing the works. So I panic turn the key off and the engines still running how can a cars engine run with the key out of the ignition. Alfa z are brillent. Don't get em mad have you seen the film Christine?

Cheers fishtankfrank.
