1995 Oldsmobile Aurora from North America - Comments

First, the air conditioner stopped working.

Next, the car started to hesitate starting. (Fuel Pump)

Then, it stalled frequently. (Fuel Pump)

Then, it began to leak engine coolant. (Radiator)

Then, the driver side seat stopped moving. (Except for the back controls)

Finally, the car stopped starting altogether. (Fuel Pump)

Overall, I love my car. I have only had it for 3 months and it has been fairly good to me.

However, it is very expensive and hard to fix.

It performs very well and gives me the speed and power I need to be happy. (I have done the 140mph on the dash)

Besides these problems, me Aurora has not had any major defects.

I love the comfortable interior, smooth ride, and unique design.

If I ran across another one at a good price, I would more than likely buy it.

The Aurora has a governor that forces it to top out at 120mph, not 140.

The 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora is governed at 109 mph. No less no more. The rated top speed without the governor is 135mph. The car was tested and reviewed and unless you have seriously put money into it; the car will not go 140 mph.

Great car loved it every day. All cars have repairs this one is just a little more expensive; worth the extra money!!!

I have owned my 95 Aurora for 5+ years with no regrets. I love it.

I have basically replaced everything on this car mechanically, but I like to keep it in show car condition. There is not one thing wrong with this car except a small scratch over the left rear tire that I received last fall. I plan to get it fixed in the spring with I start driving it again.

I have entered it in several car shows with great reviews. I do not drive it in any harsh weather (e.g. snow, ice, salty roads, etc). I confess that I am obsessed with this car. If you are interested in buying another 95 Aurora (a true classic), I will probably be selling within a year.

I have gone 137mph in my 1995 "Autobahn" Aurora... to see if your Aurora is Autobahn check to see if it came with V rated tires (on the driver door info label) That 137 was with 4 people in the car, and the A/C on. It still would have gone faster, I have not yet hit the limiter. Regular Auroras are limited at 109mph.

Can you modify the speed limiter to faster than 109 mph? My car gets to it so fast, but it is disappointing that it won't go any faster.

I originally commented on the Aurora topping out at 120. I am not familiar with official governor specs, but I absolutely insist I had my stock Aurora within a hair of 120 before the governor kicked in. I had two passengers and was racing against a Civic (who was driving solo) on the freeway. I outpaced him every step of the way until my acceleration was stopped. I believe that the 109 limit is true, buy at least in my case, it proves that there is a LOT more to this cars potential. At 120 I still had at least 2K RPM left on the tach and have no doubt that without restrictions, this car could do 140-150+. What a shame... RIP Oldsmobile... GM should have axed Buick.
