"A fast 4 door sleeper"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Transmission was replaced under warranty as the 1st gear was too narrow for the torque of the engine.

General comments?

I installed the Hoppen Stage 3 engine upgrade which included the RS2 Comp turbo, ECU upgrade with 3 bar sensor, RS2 exhaust manifold. I also installed ABT Springs/Bilstein shocks and 17 inch wheels. These upgrades are must-do's for the ur-S4/S6.

Do you have to get the rs2 manifold to get the rs2 turbo? also, were did you get this and how much?

If you install this turbo upgrade, do you need a ecu chip to make it perform properly?

Depends how much power you are after. Remapped ECU, (or chips, goto any owners website for info, s2forum.com is a good place to start) and full exhaust will see approx 270-280bhp.

The above with a uprated intercooler and hybrid turbo will see over 300.

RS2 conversion will liberate much more power, but depends how much you want.

You do not NEED the RS2 manifold for the RS2 turbo, but it is highly recommended or the engine can overheat due to the exhaust unable to keep up with the load. Also, you will need to have the ECU remapped (by MTM, 2Bennett, Intended Acceleration, etc...) to handle the added boost. In addition, you should do the MAP, injectors, an exhaust, and think about the exhuast cam for it all to run as it should. However, when it completed, it is well worth it. At that point you are looking at 320-350, depending on the ECU and exhaust.
