No problems with the car at all.
I was a bit dubious about the new shape micra, but now wouldn't swap it for anything else.
The SE model comes with many useful features, not least of which is the keyless entry which although sounds gimmicky for a small car, is actually extremely useful!
Safety seems good with driver and passenger airbags both on the dashboard and in the side of the seats.
The sliding rear seat to increase leg space or boot size is a very useful feature.
Comfort is good for a small car and the visibility is excellent.
Because of the new design placing the wheels at the extreme corners of the car it handles/holds the road well, a marked improvement on the old micra.
Some handling may be influenced by model though as the lower models have smaller tyres.
The inbuilt computer offering service reminders and fuel economy is another useful feature. Average fuel economy driving both in towns and on motorways comes out at about 48mpg.
Rain sensing windscreen wipers are another way to aid a lazy driver! After switching this car on it does so much itself that you feel as though it must be driving itself too! Woe betide if the electronics ever go wrong though...!!!
Although they seem a bit pricey (depending on how good you are at bartering) you get what you pay for in terms of some of the technological features you wouldn't expect to find on a small car.
The only criticisms I can think of are the wind noise when driving which can sometimes be loud and the fact that like so many other small cars the spare tyre is a space saver - the old micra had a proper tyre as a spare which made switching them around easier.
The nissan micra se is the worst car ever owned.. to date had car 2yrs after a series of 27 faults, mainly manufacturing problems we are now selling.
A few to mention seats not screwed down to floor, rattling in car, engine bay harness not holding engine in car properly, intelligent key system locked us out on 6 occassions, refitted locks 3 times, car radio and on board computer broke down twice and replaced, rain sensors on constant high speed, when slight drizzle making screeching sound.. back seat slider broke off in hand, rear view mirror replaced twice due to falling off, engine failure due to sensor problems towed away on second day of buying from parks nissan.. seriously don't buy this car.
I've had my Micra for about 18 months now, and the only actual problem with the car was a snapped seat forward tilt cable (it's a 3 door) - fixed in 10 minutes for absolutely nothing at the local Nissan garage. This was a fault on the earlier models (02-53) but anything after that has a stronger cable.
Other than that its fantastic, I only have the 1.2s, but that's more than enough for town driving and I've had it up to 116MPH on the motorway. Only gripe about the car is wind noise, far too much of it at 70MPH. And it does not like cross winds.
But I feel that the advances in technology and design more than make up this small problem (after all it is a town car not a motorway muncher). Easiest thing in the world to park, more boot space than any other car this size with the seats folded.
If you have a problem with the car take it back, Nissan are fairly notorious for early cars in a new model range to have teething problems, but after 6 months production they never so much as squeak.
I bought this car second hand approximately 18 months ago at which it was around 3 years old. I had no problems for around 6 months.
Main problems so far:
- Rubber button for the driver side door (intelligent lock) fell off leaving the electrics exposed to the elements
- Electric motor inside central locking failure. Opens and locks OK, but makes an awful grinding noise when locking
- Car locks you inside occasionally - only driver side - have to climb out of passenger side or wind down windows to open door from outside
- Intelligent key malfunctioning - car not starting even when key fob battery replaced and recoded
- Windows rattle when wound down
- Airbag light flashing - caused by sensor underneath driver seat coming loose through repeat seat movement to get in the back
- Camshaft failure - car losing power and cutting out when idle/cold.
I would not buy this car again!!!
