2003 Proton Waja 1.6 from Malaysia - Comments

Engine sound become very noticeable after the car used for less than 6 months old.

The road handling is super, top speed at 170km/hr without much floating as compared to Wira.

Accerleration is very slow and this causing higher fuel consumption of about 10.5km/liter, but once above 90 - 100km/hr then you can feel the power.

Headrest design is a failure, can't support the neck.

"Hot-seat" for the front passenger as poor air-conditional design can't blow the front passenger.

Very roomy as compared to its class.

Waja 1.6 M/T problems:

1: rear boot difficult to close.

2: front bulb easily burnt.

I've been driving proton waja 1.6Msince I bought it in Dec 2003 and i's such a good car. value for money. the performance is good as compared to experience of others.

I changed the driver's window and the absorber while it's still under warranty. The rest are still good tilltoday.

I bought a Proton Waja 02 after going through various choice in used car market.

Plus:-

1. Plenty of room with very affordable price.

2. Economy fuel consumption.

3. Good all rounder family sedan.

Minus:-

1. Poor power window mechanism and handle design.

2. Poor air conditioning for front passenger.

3. Poor color choice for interior.

Conclusion: Best value for money and comfort for 1.6 sedan. Roomier than Altis, Sentra and comparable to Civic and Perdana.
