"The NEW A6 3.0 Diesel Quattro"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Great so far!

General comments?

I sometimes have the privilege of driving newer cars for an extended period of time. I did this with the 5-series, E-Class, and now the new Audi A6.

Firstly, it looks fantastic! It is a head turner wherever you go! Performance is great as well. The pick-up is smooth and fast, and the top speed that I reached was 254 km/h (even though the statistics said that it would not go further than 244 km/h). This is on the Germany Autobahn.

I am not so sure about the reliability, since I have only had this car for 5000km. I am sure that they have improved a lot from the previous model, but then again it just came into the market so there are properly several problems that will be uncovered at later stages.

The fuel consumption is tremendous! If, however, you use the cruise control on the highway you could get approximately 7 liters for 100 km.

I won't have the car much longer so I will post any update I may have in the meantime.

Interesting review, especially because you've driven the E class & series as well. Any comments on preferences? Would be very useful for me as I'm considering all three for my next car purchase.

Sorry for not commenting sooner - I haven't checked out my reviews for quite some time.

The E-class has a very clunky transmission - not as smooth as previous models and definitely not as smooth as the A6. I drove the E220 CDI so pick-up wasn't as great as the A6 either.

The BMW 5 series is a great car - the ultimate driving machine for sure. However, the interior leaves a lot to be desired and feel as though the A6 is very strong in that aspect.

I hope you chose the right car!

Nice car. but you can't compare a 2.2 diesel car with a 3.0 diesel. bigger engine. more torque and bhp!! so of course there will be a difference. have driven the 3 cars in question. merc diesel is noisy when idle. the bmw has a lovely smooth silky engine. and the audi has some power and road holding. hard choice between the three. would rule out merc. reliability issues. had a c class and e class. the bmw is fine, but look around you almost everybody has one. here in ireland anyhow. so that leaves the audi. is different and when things go wrong they are not a complicated to fix as a bmw at times. love the looks of the audi.

Whatever you buy, make sure it's got a TURBO, otherwise you won't be able to remap the ECU to get a lot more BHP and torque. -A56 Driver.
