At 165 000, the starter died. 150$ Since this time, I have a problem with it : it don't always start!
During the winter, I had to changed the battery and the alternator. 500$
3 Months after, it was the muffler. 260$
Now, I have to change the brake and I got problems again with my new alternator.
The motor really drinks oil!
When I start the car, it smells very bad and the motors makes weirds noises.
And so more littles things who drives me crazy!
The baddest car in this world!
The only two positives points that I found, are the comfortability of the seats and the gas consummation. I easily make 200km when the tank is "full"
I paid this Hyundai 500$, put more than 700$ on it, and only after one year, I'm not able to sell it more than...600$ or 700$!
I lost time and money for nothing!
You show no indication of the condition of the car when you purchased it, buying a car from 1992 in the year 2003 is practically asking for problems, normal things like brakes tend to break down after 11 years sir.
My older brother purchased a Hyundai Excel LX 95 model in 1998 second hand it had done 68000kms and he replaced only items that are replaced on a regular basis like brakes ect until he sold it in 2001 at this stage the car had done over 200000kms.
I purchased an Excel LX 95 model recently, it had done 98000kms and I have seen no signs of problems at all and I doubt that I ever will.
When I bought this car, I only got a little "body job" to do and very minors/normals reparations (water pump, motor's strap). The guy give me a lot of "factures" from the last 5 years (transmission, battery, timing bell, brakes (in 2000), etc) The starter was changed in 1998.
Change a starter after only 5 years, it's not really normal. 2lt of oil by month too.
I sold it 500Cnd. It was the most terrific winter I ever had in 2003, and I'm just happy now with my mystique!
And please excuse my english!
Forgive me for being harsh. But, you bought an 11 year old car, with nearly 100,000 miles on it, for $700 Canadian (approx $500 US at the time) and you're complaining about repairs?
