"Economy car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing major has had to be repaired on the car.

The seam in the drivers chair on the right side has started to come apart, but will be sewn back up.

Sometimes loses 4th and 5th gear when shifting into 5th, don't remember what was supposed to be the problem.

General comments?

Car is quite reliable.

Not to slow, still has most of its original Horsepower.

Upgraded stereo to 540 watts.

Increased timing for more performance.

Handles quite nicely.

Little on the heavy side for a compact.

If you are having problems with the gears, you should probably put some oil in the transmission or add some Power Punch; it is good stuff, but if that does not work you probably have high mileage on the car and the syncros are worn in the transmission.

In my Hyundai Excel I was having problems getting into 2nd gear, so I had to go half way and then go the rest to get it in to gear, but since I filled my transmission, I have had no further problems, and amazingly I am getting over 50 mpg and have not lost any performance.

It also helps to go with a bigger exhaust pipe for less restriction in your engine.

If you have any questions about this car, I have email and you can get a hold of me at b.l.pringle@hotmail.com, and I have a myspace which I check more often.
