No problems.
I replaced the headgaskets, tires, and performance exhaust.
All repairs done have been performed by myself for no other reason than I wanted to make the car as reliable as possible. With 200k miles on it, it still blows away the Mustangs and Camaros on the highway.
Top speed reached at 205,000 miles was 145mph.
Love the car. I own two of them.
Hey, I just bought a 1990 SC in November 2003. Rebuilt the engine after head gasket and rod problems. All stock and still doing a little over 145 mph.
After reading all the reviews & comments on the T-Bird SC's, I figure I'd add my expeirience w/my '89. Bought it used in '91. 34k miles. Auto trans. Trans. received a valve body at 50k thru dealer for it woudn't shift into OD anymore. I found the serpentine belts only to last about 40k before showing signs of wear although the small blower belt would do better. Brakes warped. Rear window leaked after a while & had to be resealed. Around 80k the s/charger started leaking oil at the front pulley. The headliner (as w/a lot of Fords) is some of the cheapest material & literally crumbled away in the rear after a couple years. Heater core needed to be replaced (leaked). Drivers side f/window came off track. After overheating it once (my fault) around 90k it blew a head gasket around 103k when my buddy punched the accelerator & put 12 pounds of boost to it. Sold it as is in '97. Although I liked the car & stayed on top of it w/maint. it was not one on my better cars.
