The automobile was not cheap when purchased and has been a hassle to maintain. The warranty offered was for 3 years or 36,000 miles. At the time of purchase the dealership was never ending trying to sell me an extended warranty. As if they new something I have only now found out.
For the A/C, turn it off when the car is off. This puts less of a strain on the car and the A/C compressor.

As for the engine light on after gas fill-ups. Use a better quality gas (from a better station), and make sure the cap is on good and tight.
