"Don't waste your money -- better off with a Lada"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Needed heater plugs.

New discs.

New bottom track control arms.

Diesel solenoid switch.

Driver's door lock stopped working.

Front tyres wore heavily.

General comments?

Pile of crap: woefully slow and dreary to drive, heavy heavy steering, Arnold Schwartzeneger would find it hard to park this baby.

I agree with this review totally. I will never buy another Ford as long as I live.

My mum has a little 91 Fiesta Bonus 999cc, with 50K on the clock.

At the first MOT which we had it, although there was no visible rust, it needed 400 quid worth of welding, and the master brake cyclinder was leaking.

The tappets are also as noisy as hell, I've only driven it a handfull of times, but trust me, you're a lot better off with a 205. I've got a 205 open 1.4. It may have 140K, but these engines go on for ever. 205's NEVER rust, no mechanical problems, went straight through at MOT time, it's only about 250 quid an year extra to insure for me at 18.

The performance is a lot better, flying up hills, and on the local A road does 103mph before the corner where you have to brake, rather than 69mph in the Fiesta, as well as the legendary handling.

Finally, although my right foot is heavier than that of my mum's, I get an extra 5-10 mpg on her.

For a car that costs about the same as a Fiesta, a 205 will be cheaper, and leave you much happier. Just check out the reviews. 99% smiles.

It is simply not true to say '205's NEVER rust' I've seen plenty with rust around the door edges and the outer sill area. The bodywork is not that much better quality than the MK3 Fiesta.
