The only thing that has gone wrong on the car is the Hazard switch. On all 2001 Alero the hazard switches have been recalled for defect, but Oldsmobile has not recalled the ones on the Intrigue, enough of them have not failed and the switches are doing the same thing. Intermittent directionals, hazard flashes are intermittent. They are making money on this. Part is $40 but with labor it is $300.
The car is so far extremely reliable except for the hazard flasher switch.
You are right on, the hazard switch is a problem, the contacts get dirty, remove unit and spray with contact cleaner and your good to go for another 25k miles or more.
