Brake light died. A common problem fixed under warranty.
Passenger door lock goofy. Sometimes have to dick around with key. Will take in to have it looked at.
On a long road trip it used to have that anit-freeze smell. Gone now. It's a mystery.
A lot of squeaking going on somewhere in the supension?
It seems to goon all my cd's. The player gets real hot. I am careful with my cd's as I used have LP's (old fart). I have tested the player by putting in a new cd for a month and it does not goon it while in the player. I suspect it goons the cd either during inserting or removing the cd. It's hugely maddening. Has anybody else had this problem? Let me know at justburk59@hotmail.com.
Excellent price. Excellent 140 hp Ecotec. I have had the car from new and have 30k in one year. It's great on the highway and the city. Gas mileage got better at about 25k. Not sure if my foot got lighter? I think it's the best deal going for the price. I love it and I believe it loves me. Handles excellent in snow. So far bullet proof. If I get 5 years of trouble free driving, I will be a hero. If not, I will be a goat.
I'm just wondering is there anyone else having problems with their tail lights going out frequently or their trunk not wanting to close?
I have a 95' Cavalier LS. It too, has trouble with the trunk closing properly. Among other issues: smell of antifreeze, temp and speed gauge malfunction, dash vibration, and most recently, transmission shutter and stalling, as if out of gas even though I just filled the tank. Other than that, I love the car
I have an '03 that has trouble with the trunk closing. I do not want to slam it, but if I just maintain gentle pressure on it on it until is all the way down, it closes no problem. Other than that, the car is absolutely fantastic. You simply cannot ask for a better I4 engine than the 2.2 Ecotec. It is very evident that lot of engineering and quality control went into its design. I take very good care of mine. I drive it easy and give it Mobil 1 every 4000 miles. The Getrag manual transmission is the best I have ever driven in a front wheel drive car. With proper technique, it falls in to and out of gears with the gentlest motion. You have to know a bit about how manual transmissions work to achieve this, but this transmission is one of the best.
Not sure what you mean my "goon" but my cds get stuck in the cd player all the time. I need to wait for the cd to reverse, go back in and then have to hit the eject again. Don't you hate it when you can't reproduce these problems at the dealership! I'm just going to put in an after market system. Not that much punch in this car's sound system at all. My moms minivan has more power!
I also have to slam the trunk to close it. My other car I just have to tap the trunk closed so I always have to close the cavaliers trunk twice, once after it pops back up.
About the squeaky sound from the suspension, it is probably because you need to lubricate them. When you open your trunk, you'll see near the windshield on both sides a round shaped metallic thing which has some kind of rubber and a bolt in the middle. Lubricate that and a few hours later the sound will stop.
