2004 MG TF 135 from UK and Ireland - Comments

"I have driven many sports cars and the TF is one of the best for real driver involvement."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing has gone wrong.

General comments?

This is a good looking car and always turns heads even from drivers of much more exotic cars.

The handling is fantastic and in my experience only achieved by a mid engined rear drive arrangement.

My car has uprated brakes which on the odd occasion they have been used in earnest have proved to be absolutely superb.

I am nearly six feet tall with a fairly large build and find the driving position good.

I can see why some motoring journalists find the driving position high - they are exceptionally tall!

It is the first car I have owned in some time that I take for a drive just for the fun of it.

The car always puts a smile on my face.

I am 5 foot 6 and it's misleading to say that there is enough room to comfortably fit in someone who is over 6 feet tall! I can barely rest my foot without is overlapping onto the brake!

Is this guy for real?

I am 5ft 10 inches and drive a TF 160, as yet I have not found the drivers position to be anything else, but comfortable. I would dive at least 4 hours a day in peak traffic, 2 hours am and 2 hours Pm.

Can anyone tell me what space there is behind the front 2 seats in a mg-tf, is there room for children or is it just the 2 seats and that's all you're getting in there?

Thanks,

Marc Guy.

I'm 6'4" and fit comfortably in the TF. Depends where your height is. Mine is in my legs, for which there is is plenty of room. Tip for fellow six-footers: don't do the natural thing and push the seat all the way back. Bring it forward a notch or two and then lower the seat back. This helps with headroom enormously.

I am 6ft 3" and find the MGTF's seating position is spot on. I cannot however sit comfortably in an MX5.

With response to the guy asking about the number of seats in a TF if your looking for a car to take the kids then forget it, although if you want to forget the kids then this is your car. Although it is a 2 seater and with a folding roof, luggage space and interior space are possible the best on the market. If you find you need more boot space just buy the luggae rack for the boot (dont buy it from rover it will cost you a small fortune - shop round on the internet) I own a fantastic specimen of a TF and have nothing, but praise for it (some of the carpets inside don't fit quite right, but you have to remember that it basically is a rover) I forgive them for this especially as these cars were made at a time when rover were trying to save their own arses, but cutting costs. If this is the only niggle I can find then I don't care I love my MG (so does the Mrs who will not buy anything, but 1 of those flipping blue oval badge things)
