This car is the Cruiser you need in your stable. At $3000.00 U.S. this car was a steal! It is not the "Off The Line" Schumacher F1 Rocket, but at highway speeds it is the "Boss"
Great Auto for going to dinner with another couple.
Great road manners!
I never owner a mercedes diesel, however I was always intrigued by them. they are well known for their longevity and gas mileage, however I don't know if it is a worthwhile tradeoff as compared to a gas engine. it seems many of these older gas powered s-class sedans seem to be able to perform admirably with well over 200,000 miles on them. that's why I think that other than gas mileage, I don't know if it's worth dealing with hard starting in the winter, lackluster performance, and exhaust smoke and non-refinement as far as motor noise. anybody have any suggestions as to why it is beneficial to buy a diesel benz over a gas engine.
About your older MB Diesel. this may sound odd, but it can be converted quite easily to run on Vegetable oil. A second tank, (can put it in the wheel well), a little bit of heater hose and copper tubing, a couple of solenoid switches and you'll be getting around 600 to 700 miles per tankful. (probably doubling your fuel tank range). Depending on your daily commute this may be of interest. Good luck and happy motoring.
1) Mercedes Diesel is not hard to start in Winter or smokey or slow to respond or noisy.
2) I have been driving Mercedes 300 Diesel's since 1980: Best car I have ever owned.
3) By far!
4) Not even close!
