2003 Citroen C2 VTR from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Great Handling pocket rocket!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Faulty ESP swithch at 9000 miles, replaced under warranty.

Noisy (binding) brakes in reverse, rectified under warranty. (manufacturers recall)

Alarm seems to trigger sometimes for no reason.

General comments?

I have now owned this car for approx three months and 3000 miles although the C2 has not been without its problems. Although all of these have been fixed by the dealer under warranty quickly and effectively. Citroen customer care seems to be very good.

I find the performance of the VTR good although it seems to need to be revved fairly high to get the best out of it.

Brakes and handling are excellent!! As is traction control. The paddle shifts are excellent fun and react quickly although I have known it to be at a standstill at a junction in automatic mode and the car has tried to pull away in second this however is once in a blue moon.

Insurance is very very reasonable for a car of this performance and engine size.

I find fuel consumption sometimes a little worrying my highest being around 36mpg on a run and sometimes being pushed round twisty roads as low as 28mpg!!

This car does tend to turn heads and draw attention, I've even had van drivers sitting in traffic saying what a lovely looking car it is.

I like the car in Metallic Black although it is a nightmare to keep clean and shows every mark, but than doesn't every black car.

My only other dissapointment with the car is it seems to have lost its value very very quickly and there are not a lot of dealers who will take this car in as a part exchange!!!

Overall if you don't need a lot of boot space and only drive yourself and the odd passenger than this car is a lot of fun.

Hi I have had the vtr for one month now, it did go back to the garage for drivers side suspension to be fixed, and unfortunately the fuel consumption is a bit worrying about 28 to the gallon, one other thing it jerks you forward on a hill when pulling off as does not no what gear to be in, anyone out there have a shuddery gearbox when pulling away on a hill?
