So far nothing has gone wrong with this car.
I will place a comment when something does.
The Focus svt is a very quick car for the price. Can easily keep up with Mustang gt's.
Handling is like nothing I have felt before. This car rides like it is on rails, literally.
Braking is excellent, the big brakes that come stock on this car will stop it nicely when the brake pedal is hit.
Inside the car is more like a BMW 3 series than a Ford. Has a nice stereo stock. An ice cold air conditioner is something that is very nice in the summer, and this car has that.
For the money the closest car to this is the Dodge srt-4 and I wouldn't think about spending the extra money, this car is worth every penny.
We purchased an 04 Focus SVT and it is the biggest piece of garbage I have ever had. The engine finally feel out of it with my 2 year old son in the car. It broke the axle and now Ford doesn't want to fix it!
The Focus is one of the best small cars built anywhere, and the SVT (which, sadly is no longer built) was the absolute best value and best performer in its class. Our 2001 Focus ZX-3 never gave us one second's trouble and was vastly superior to anything the Japanese had to offer.
I owned a 2004 SVT Focus from April 2004 through Dec. 2006. Although it was very fun to drive, the car was not reliable and I was not satisfied with Ford's service at three different dealers. The selling dealer's service department was rude, the dealer closest to my job refused to provide loaners (supposed to be provided to SVT owners), and my local dealers service managers repeatedly refused to acknowledge problems with the car.
The last straw was in Dec. 2006 when the dealer reported that the clutch and transaxle needed replacement, that Ford would pick up the cost of the transaxle, but they charged me $1150 for the clutch and associated parts. This despite a service bulletin that said the transaxle would fail due to premature clutch wear. I had started complaining about the clutch slipping when the car had only 6,000 miles on it. (It had about 66,000 miles on it in Dec. 2006.)
I will NEVER purchase another Ford vehicle. Not only are they not reliable, but Ford does not stand behind what it sells.
Ford is a dying company so all the good people have jumped ship, from salespeople to the mechanics. Ford service was always awful, and it gets worse if your car is out of warranty.
My Focus experience soured me on any Ford not to mention any domestic car.
