Nothing has gone wrong with the car at this stage. A couple of minor irritations are a constant metal on metal sound from the brakes when rolling, this is caused by a build up of dust, and very occasionally there's a delay in starting the engine. The ignition turns over for a little bit.
Also when the car went in for its 1500km check up a leak was found in a ring on the power steering hose. This was replaced straight away with no prompting from me.
So far the car has been brilliant. The handling is absolutely awesome. I wasn't looking for comfort when I bought it, if I had been I would be slightly disappointed by the very firm ride. Considering the car's purpose though, the ride is more than acceptable.
I'm a bit concerned about the fuel economy. The official figures seem to be better than my old 1.8 306, but so far I seem to be using more than that. OK, I have been having some fun, but I used to do that in the 306 too. I'm hoping that as the engine runs in economy will improve.
I managed to pick up a speeding ticket on the first day I had the car. Since then I may have had a few pictures taken, too. So performance isn't an issue. The only thing I would change is the power below 2500rpm. It's very hard to take off quickly from the lights, which can be an issue if your lane ends shortly after an intersection. Maybe I need to get used to the clutch.
The car gets lots of looks. I'm not used to having a vehicle that other people want, but it is an ego boost having people trying to get a closer look at the badge on the back. That being said, only car buffs really know what they're looking at.
Punto hgt is quicker than this!
Punto HGT will leak, overheat, need new radiators, need new steering column support, etc etc etc...
Both depreciate like nothing on earth.
Mg zs 180 will demolish both of these without straining at all. i'v come from behind a pug 180 and left him behind.
Who wants an MG though.
My clio cup 172 will leave all the above for dust and that's a fact.
Well I bet I could run faster than all of the above! Wouldn't breakdown as often either!
This is probably the last car that handles with any of the traditional Pug flair. The 307 is dull, the 407 is dull and that 1007 thing is simply diabolical.
With the 206 you get that lovely light tail feel that all the traditional hot Peugeots have had, and it turns in very sharply. Apart from slightly numb steering, I really rate this car.
By the way, whoever it is that keeps putting these MG ZS 180 comments all over this site, if you were daft enough to blow a five figure sum on a rebadged ten year old Honda with a cheap body kit then it's your problem. Please stop ranting about it on every hot hatch review on the site. Nobody actually cares. What you spent on that car would have just as well been put into a paper bag and set alight. You will never see that money again!
The MG ZS180 isn't that fast as I have owned one for a month then traded it in for a clio sport 182.
Compared to the clio the zs180 is sooooooooooo slow! The best 0-60 I got from the zs180 was 7.92sec, with proper timing gear.
If you believe some of the nonsense on here, the Clio 182 is faster than pretty much anything else money can buy.
My 206 GTI 180 does the 0-60 in 6.3 seconde. The figures of 7.1 from peugeot is with passengers and a load of luggage, hence without this it will do it in 6.3. The clio sport is not as fast on paper and not even on the road. I have raced to and pipped both times, not by a long gap, but enough to beat it.
Yeh...whatever. 8.1 for 180. slow.
You would never get 6.3 out of your pug, mmore like 8.1, came last in all hot hatch reviews, so what does that tell you. looks good, but has poor performance. only got a few extra lb/ft than the gti 137. not a hot hatch. overpriced boy racers car.
Pug 180 o-60 7.7, 0-1000m 28.6 top end 137. all pug specs from website.
Pug gti 180 does 0-60 in 8.1 sec 0-100 in 23.6sec.
If anyone wants a laugh read the review on the 96' 306 xsi.
