"A lemon......."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Starter.

Alternator.

CV joint.

Battery (due to alternator failure).

Windshield wiper motor.

Timing belt.

BRAKES (horrible horrible brake design I may add).

Rotors.

All 4 wheel cylinders/pistons for the brakes.

All the wheel bearings.

Strut assembly.

Heater core.

Heater motor (still not working).

Fan.

Horn.... hmmm that's about it for now :)

General comments?

Not a bad car for what I gave for it ($500 US). But this car was made in South Korea, thus making any and all parts for this car very expensive.

The design of the brakes is horrid, I mean hello people, you cannot expect a phillips head screw to hold a rotor on a assembly, any idiot knows this.

The car has no insulation so you can hear the noisy engine all the time unless you crank the awsome Delco radio that likes (I pitched my factory radio) to blow the awsome Delco speakers :)

Whoever designed this car was not thinking about the people that would be driving this piece of crap. This is a great example of making something for a profit and nothing else :) Plain and simple.

You do know that Daewoo made the LeMans right? Scariest part is, they are still selling cars in the USA.

I bought an 88 LeMans and I've never had a more horrible expereince! I will never buy Pontiac or Daewoo ever in my life! That is the least I can do for my experience of almost everything on it breaking down. I spent 600 on it and I've probably invested 2000+ into fixing it and it still breaks down regularly. Hope this comment will stop some poor soul from buying one!

I have one of these. I paid $800 for it, and have put an estimated $1,000-$1,500 into it. I haven't had trouble with the brakes yet, we'll just wait and see...

Your comments are excellent and very humorous. I couldn't stop laughing.

I have a Passport Optima, the canadian counter part. My transmission is very sluggish from neutral to 1st and 1st to second. So I am now speed shifting most of the time. Reverse most always grinds to get into gear, so no luck of speed shifting into that gear.

My heater fan switch died the other day, I'll probably just hot wire it somehow,

The gear shifter boot is falling apart.

The drivers side window handle mechanism is shot I have to use vise grips to open and close the window, which I store very conveniently in the pocket on the floor between the seat and the door. (makes me wonder is they designed it that way on purpose).

The driver side floor mat always rides towards the fire wall.

The seats are crap and falling apart. It can get kinda of hazardous just getting in and out of the car.

The trunk lid and outrageously heavy, it doesn't stay open, I have an extremely long ice scraper to prop it open when I use the trunk.

But hey it gets great gas mileage.
