Cooling fan belt broke after a year of driving. Costs $50.00
Replaced timing belt at 110,000km. Costs $150.00.
AT 155,000km replaced the timing belt again because a water pump leak damaged the timing belt. Costs $300.00.
The previous owner kept the van in good shape.
I performed the oil change myself at every 4000km.
Replaced antifreeze every 30,000km.
We have a lot of snow in the winter (Canada). My van is rear wheel drive and is very slipper in the winter.
Compare with my 91 Honda accord, gas mileage is not very good.
I don't take my van to the deal, they charged a lot of money for the service. I have an in-law that owned a repair shop and I take van there for service.
This van is slow at pickup, but stable on the highway.
Hello to the person considering buying this vehicle. My advice to you is to stay as far away from Mazda as you can. I had a 1991 Mazda Mpv which was bought brand new. It was by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned, I have had about 5 Honda's, including an acura. This van was bought since Honda didn't have a mini van at the time. This Mini van costs us years of trouble. Not even the maintenance or repairs on all 5 Honda's in 10 years costs us the amount the Mazda did in one year. For example, the tranny went 3 times, the engine went twice, the starter went a year later after it was bought, the a/c nver worked properly, the shocks leaked and were replaced 4 times, and the list goes on. My advice, stay away from Mazda and all domestics.
