2000 Hyundai Elantra from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

This car is giving me problems sense I owned it and it's only 4 years old. That is not good I pay all that money to buy a car and it should at lease not be falling apart 4 years later.

My rear drivers side window started not working so it does not go up and down. Now the front passenger side window is doing the same thing and just today now it's the right passenger side. I guess it's the motor going out on it. I am hearing it is not cheap to get those motors fixed in the window.

There is a motor defect also in the engine. I am not happy with this model.

There should be some kind of re-call on the 2000 Hyundai Elantra windows.

General comments?

I am having the same problem with my right rear window. It seems to be cheap plastic cable guides that are letting the cable jump it's track.

I have just been given my mothers 2000 Elantra wagon and within 10 days 3 out of 4 electric windows broke. The two rear passenger windows cost close to $800 to repair and the front one was close to $300. There should be a recall.

I am having the same problem with my 2000 Hyundai Elantra Sedan. First my rear passenger window stopped working, then the door would not open. I got that fixed, then the drivers side (rear) did the same thing. It is very expensive to fix (about $500 with labor). I believe there should be a recall on this.

I can relate to the comments about the power windows. When I bought my Elantra the dealer had to fix the left window before I bought it. This should have been a sign to me, but unfortunately I bought it. 8 months later the left rear window fails again. Then 3 months later the right rear window fails. Both are "rigged" now so that they don't fall down in the door. Now the driver's window is getting slow and once or twice went up and missed the seal completely at the top rear corner.
