Fuel Leak - 143,000 (GM says is not under recall)
This has been the single most disappointing car I have ever owned. Have spent over $5,000 to date on this lemon. Now GM tells me that my car, which has the fuel leak (as noted per NHTSA Recall #04V110000), is not covered in the recall.
The original draft recall issued in March 2004 included the 1995 Auroras. Then, when the "final" recall was issued in June 2004, the 1995 year was excluded. GM will not explain the reason for this. Basically 1995 owners are driving potentially flaming fireballs that will cost over $700 to fix.
Has anyone else run into the recall problem?
The Auroras are an awesome car! It seems as though you got a lemon. There are ways of fighting GM on the recall. Also, since your internet savvy, check on the class action lawsuits regarding Dex Cool, the crappy orange anti-freeze they used.
I just bought a'95 an already own a '98. I joined a great on-line group: http://aurorah.proboards20.com/index.cgi.
Look into the group! I look forward to following your progress. I don't know if they will let me post my email here or edit it out: ted.copeland1@verizon.net.
But try to keep me updated.
The Love/Hate relationship with GM continues!...
Regarding the fuel leak: I received 2 recall notices in the mail 2 weeks ago stating that the fuel line wasn't adequate for the internal pressure. GM is replacing the faulty pressure lines with steel ones for free.
I have a 1995 Aurora and I've had nothing, but problems also. When I first learned of the recall I called and was told my vehicle was not included. I just called back today because my fuel problems seem to be getting worse and they said that my vehicle was included. You may want to try back.
I got my 95 Aurora's fuel line repaired and found out through another source that the part that was repaired was recalled. I contacted GM and got a recall claim form approved for a full reimbursement of the $400.00 that I paid for the repairs. You might want to try again.
My wife and I purchased our 95 Aurora in 2001.We have had just about every problem that is mentioned with this car. The electrical gremlins, its appetite for brake pads and rotors, oil leaks, transmission problems, fuel pressure regulators, cd player,2 radiators. However, I love this car. I also own a 90 Mustang GT ragtop, and it was never as quick as that Olds. As far as the fuel rail problem, my wife was told not to park the car by her employers building, they thought it was going to blow up, the gas smell was so bad. GM paid to tow it to the dealer, replaced the fuel rail and fuel line to the tank under the recall, also paid for a rental car for 1 week. Call Oldsmobile Customer Assistance hotline, this is a defect they should correct. Make Noise.
This is worst car in my life. 95 Aurora is gas eater, brakes burner. No windows can be open in or after rain- you getting wet. No can or bottle can be put in the holder-spills or fells from that idiotic cup holder. Driver seat leather started to crack about 60K. Door illumination (function buttons-seat reg.,seat heating buttons) does not work. Steering column I fixed 7 times (loosing stoppers) before somebody welded them.
Junk. No more Auroras in my life or any other related.
I brought my 1995 Aurora in February of 2006. I had just had my daughter and wanted a little safer vehicle than my truck. (So my mom says, because of my driving) I love it. It's a little longer than what I am use to, but hey, you get use to it. Since is an eleven year old car I expected to do a little maintenance. Thank goodness that the only thing I've had to change thus far is the Cadillac converter. But now my car is smelling like gas when I start it and when it comes to a stop. I've been reading about the fuel rail recall that went on and I was wondering how I can tell if the previous owner of my car got it changed? Also if that would have anything to do with the smell of gas that I am smelling? The smell is very strong now and I'm not sure if I want to drive it. Any information would be very helpful. Thanks.
Hey, I bought a 95 Aurora. I love the car, but for one problem; it keeps overheating. No leaks; put a new thermostat in it, but in the summer heat the car just continues to overheat Anyone else having this problem? I need tips on fixing it.
Thank you.
