Replaced freeze plugs that's it!
Fantastic running car.
Fleetwood Black Limosine Model takes lot of drivway space!
Most unusual car I ever bought! Beautiful body style on this older model. Purchased on a whim from a funeral home in Delaware that closed due to retirement for only $900!!! in 1988. Ran great always........ body, interior mint as well... very good acceleration and always had been garaged. It used lots of fuel with its huge V8 but who cares! When searching its history I found it was once a government car as its protect o plate indicated was registered in Washington DC and papers with the Attorney General... perhaps the President (Nixon) was in it? I liked the divider window between the seats, rear stereo, jump seats, very small back window and the rear fender ports for air were distinctive. The windows were the darkest limo black which were only legal on a limo model. It had stickers so that it would pass inspection. Best times were taking the car to take skiing with the skis in the back with friends or with kids putting up the divider window! And you can double park everywhere. Not a great car if you are the driver as it has stiff upright seat, but great when you can be a passenger! I sold it for much more than I paid for it but wish I hadn't!
Your former '70 limo sounds nice. I own a '76 limo so I can relate to your comments.
It would be nice if I could find a '69 limo to go with my '69 Fleetwood Brougham!
Anyway, they are unusual cars and fun to own. I especially like the divider window, rear climate control and rear radio controls. And the overall huge rear compartment.
I too am a huge fan of the 1969 Cadillac. I've been
searching for years for a 1969 Wisteria convertible with
excellent original white leather seats. Talk about a HARD
car to find!!! If anyone out there knows of one PLEASE
let me know!! Thanks, Tony 310-260-1451.
Neat car. I just purchased a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine with 37,000 original miles. No glass partition between driver and passengers, much more comfortable this way when driving. I LOVE IT!!!...
Would you sell your 1970 Limo?
I just read your post all the way and noticed that you sold your Cadillac fleetwood?
Do you know who purchased it?
The last time I saw my limo it was in Dover De purchased by a restaurant owner for $10,000. I am sure documentation on any cars history adds value.
We just purchased a 1970 Cad Fleetwood Limo at the Charlotte NC car show, 50,000 orig miles, black, perfect shape, we payed 6,500 for it. Do you think we got a good buy.
Sounds exactly like my limo I had. It would be curious to know what these sold for new. My documentation meaunt everything at the time. Many years later what I miss is the classic lines this model has.
My 1970 cadillac fleetwood 75 is on ebay right now. I also own a 1969 lincoln lehmann peterson high top limo - my favorite car. in my opinion, $6500 for a 1970 caddy in good shape is a steal! congrats!
Your Caddy having been used by the Attorney General, it may have been involved in one of the most important events in American history. Documentaries about Richard Nixon or the Watergate scandal often show a video clip of Attorney General Elliot Richardson riding in a similar Cadillac limousine around the time when he resigned, during the events surrounding the October 1973 Saturday Night Massacre.
If I recall correctly, the limo had a vinyl formal roof. Look for this scene and see whether the car was the same as yours - you may be pleasantly surprised. If the car appears to be the same, please post your finding in a reply here. I would love to track down the car and see whether I can buy it from the current owner.
I own a 1970 Fleetwood Brougham. I love the car. It is all original except for new paint and new vinyl top. It is such a smooth car. And the interior features are amazing for that year. My car was actually taken by a local TV station who did a spin-off of Pimp My Ride. They painted it and put the new top on it. They also added 2 headrest tv's (which were amazingly difficult to get in the slim headrests) and a flip-down tv in the trunk. They gave it a kickin' stereo system, a miniature fridge in the trunk, and an x-box. It has an in-dash cd/mp3/DVD player, security system, undercarriage lights, and beautiful Omega wheels with low-pro tires. I actually have the original wheels and hubcaps on it now. Just by changing the wheels it goes from a "pimped" look to a "classic" caddy look instantly. The car looks great. I take it to a few shows around town and it gets great looks even though it still needs some work. I actually am ready to move on to another project and would love to let it go to another Cadillac enthusiast. If you are interested, email me. I will send pictures. rannetk@hotmail.com.
