2000 Kia Sephia from North America - Comments

"You will get to know the service personnel at the dealer very well"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The cadalydic converter seems to go every 2 months or so.

I have had this vehicle in for repairs every 2-3 months on average.

PVC valve (?) needed replaced twice in less than 3 years of actual use.

Fuel filter has been replaced 4 times.

This is a very poor vehicle overall.

General comments?

These vehicles are terrible. Even the brand new price of under 10,000 dollars does not justify the fact that the vehicle is in constant need of repair.

After I purchased the car, it needed a cadalydic converter TWO MONTHS later. not even 500 miles were put on the car.

In the beginning it did not bother me that the thing broke down all of the time. After all, there is a 100,000 mile warranty right? Wrong. after 60,000 miles almost everything goes out of warranty.

I just took my kia into the dealer today because, once again, it will not go over 25 miles/hour. And on the way to the dealer the clutch pedal decided to stick to the floor after at a stop light.

I would not reccomend this vehicle to anyone at all. they are a waste of money and you can't sell it for a pickle after you realize your mistake.

These cars should not be allowed for sale in the united states.

I'm sorry to hear of your plight, but we have owned our 2000 KIA LX since it was new... it now has 74,000 miles on the odometer! Only one problem the whole time-that was an alternator that went out. I found a used one for $50.00 (US) and put it on myself. The car runs great and has good gas mileage. Perhaps you purchased a "lemon". Every new vehicle has a chance of being a "lemon" and it doesn't matter what brand of vehicle and how much or little you pay for it! I know someone who bought a new Mercedes and that car has had more problems within the last year than our two KIA Sephias combined!! Yes, I do own two KIA's! They are very reliable and economical!! Once again I am sorry!

I also have a KIA and I am experiencing the same problem as the car will not pick up speed. My maxmium speed is maybe 50 miles per hour. What was the cause of your problem or if anybody else knows please help me.

I bought my 200 LS Aug of 2001. I hate this car. Ever since last year every two weeks my friend (the check engine light) is on. We have replaced the fuel filter. We are right now replacing the catalytic converters. Both of them, together they cost over $950.00. Our car has california emissions. Have replaced the brakes quite a few times. Only the front wear out.

The cv joints just replaced. The O2 sensors. Very expensive. All parts have to be from the dealer, even the gas cap. PCV valve wears out fast. The air intake, between the cover and the air filter, cracked; $65.00.

The water pump, timing belt and all gaskets around it were replaced in Feb of this year. Almost a new car.

We paid $11,000 or so for the car and have put $2200.00 into it this year. Only have owned it 6 years. Bought it new. I will never buy a KIA again. Jeff at the christopher Kia in parts is like one of the family now.

I call this the Korean money pit. I just don't want a car payment. But it is becoming like a car payment.

Do not buy a kia. I take care of my car and change the oil and have it serviced regularly. And this car is too much to maintain.

Cylinder misfires; have replaced the spark plug parts more times than ever should have to. These are not wires (cannot remember what they are called). But we put them in ourselves and have replaced them 4 times. Only had the car since 2001, bout it new, it is a 2000 Sephia.
