1999 Mazda Protege DX from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have a 1999 Protege dx, a week ago I

got my title transfered. A few days before the transfer the car ran great, the rear doors rain insulation kept on coming off, but that isn't too much of a problem. I am a beginning driver and lost quite a bit of money on the car for just driving 2 days with it.

Everything just went down with the car:

the brakes are going, the motors shot,

the headlights are going, and muffler sounds like its coming off.

Now I need a new motor.

I really need help on where I could find one and how much it will cost.

This car is messed up now, it's very slow. would a Mazda 6 motor fit?

To suggest what motor it needs.

Type to sniper5@sbcglobal.net.

I agree with the rear door weatherstripping being loose on my vehicle, I think that is common because it is not adhered, but simply attached via hooks in the door sill, and those can come loose if brushed by a shoulder, etc. It is easily reattached.

My '99 has over 100K miles on it, and it is still a strong runner. I dislike some of the exhaust sounds, which sound like a throb vibration in the catalytic converter in 2nd and 3rd gear, and am probably going to have to replace my brakes and shocks soon.
