Engine keeps overheating.
Rattling sound from underneath the car when gears are shifted.
Engine Idles at 2200 RPM.
Failed Emissions.
Shifter is very loose.
Clutch is starting to go.
Car is pretty quick.
Has excellent handling.
Has a sporty look.
Beat most Honda's.
Nice car for first timers.
I think that the comment about, the clutch and the other problems might have just been bad luck.
If your car's idling at 2200 rpm you should take it to a shop. mine idles perfect at 800-1000.
Yea mine idles well as well... although I've found that my shifter sticks when I goto 1st gear a bit. other than that its great for a 1st car I love it :D wish they still made em... : (
My Mx-3 is my pride and joy. I come from a family of sports car owners, and I know what to expect. The mx-3 is not the fastest car, yet it can throw down some grip once you throw down some 215 sized tires. I have done many mods and alterations to my mazda. The rattling you hear under the car is the shift rod that goes from the shifter to the transmission. If you get new bushings you will fix the problem as well as tightning up the shifter. If your looking for speed in the mx3, there is the V6 KLZE 195hp engine available that costs around 1grand, which isn't bad when you figure you'll be running 14's in the quarter. Then if you have the time and money to pop a turbo kit on there you'll be sticken with third gens.
Mine idles at about 800rpm although going over bumps very noisy suspension thirsty (25mpg) i live in england apart from that the car is great love it 1993 model and its in great condition (no rust) great car mazda.
Bought a '93 MX3 V6 used this year, as I wanted a smaller car, but I hate the boxy look. High miles, but she's a beut. Came with an aftermarket anti-theft alarm which kept draining the battery. Noticed also that there's no warning light when the starter motor is ready to give out. Have to remove the air intake to get to the rad cap, but it's still an excellent engine. A+
Toronto.
My Mazda MX3 has cost me a lot of money to fix, and although I love this car, it has hurt my wallet. But yet I will put all the money I have in it, just to get it running right.
When I get my GS right that's how it will stay.
I don't know if someone did something to it, but I can walk away from a Mustang GT no problem. THAT'S OK in my book.
Love your MAZDA, it's a DAMN good car. IF you own a Mustang GT get ready to get SMOKED......
