Replaced radiator at 95000 miles, also replaced the distributor at 110000
mile's,
had the A/C replaced at 60000 miles due to poor maintenance of over tighten belts at dealer (now I do all maintenance my self, and repairer's).
Bad rear wheel alignment tires go bad fast.
I now have 146000 thousand miles, the front driver wheel makes a chirping bird noise at low speed 5mph and at 60mph as a long squeak sound, had the car to a dealer they told me brakes, Is it bearings?
Anyone had this problem let me know?
This car is one of the best cars ever made.
Its quick to pass a slow driver, or when you are being tail-gated hit the accelerator you will put others in the dust.
This car is not a race car, it's a affordable luxury sedan of its day.
With Heads-up-display on windshield on the upscale GLE, like the new 2002 Cadillac's.
This car makes you ask your self, How did they do that?
If it's a great car, then why did you give it a sad rating???
My 94' Altima has been great. Its got 150,000 miles on it and I have had no problems other than the distributor shaft breaking. And I too have the driver side wheel chirp. I don't know what it is, but I think its from the brakes being too tight.
I have loved my '93 altima since I bought it last year. It only has 88,000 miles on it and I bought it for $4000! No major problems, but I too hear a chirping sound from that driver-side wheel, but only at speeds <10mph. Also, gas mileage is poorer than it should be... took it to one mechanic who didn't really have an answer... I should bring it to someone who specializes in Nissans or at least Japanese cars. Recently the power windows have malfunctioned as well and like to roll down on their own unless I push the window lock button.
I have a 1993 Altima GXE with 128,000 miles and I too am experiencing some noise coming from the driver's side front wheel. You say you are hearing a chirp, but in my case it is more like a "shwoosh, shwoosh, shwoosh" and it only does it at very slow speeds. Other than that, my car has been pretty good to me. I had to replace both front suspension control arms, the alternator (twice) and the starter. It's a very quick little car and easy to drive "enthusiastically." My passenger side rear window also likes to roll down by itself once and a while, but usually only after a heavy rain. The only thing about my car that I absolutely hate is the power antenna. In the winter time here in Michigan, the antenna will either not go up at all, or only go up half way and this drastically reduces the radio reception which is infuriating at times, especially during my favorite morning radio show. Occasionally, too, the antenna will freeze in the up position, and getting it to retract is a pain.
