I lost all interior lights and trunk light, probably fuse.
Fog lights do not work.
It seems to overheat rather quickly.
Brake light and ABS light come on when I apply the brakes.
There seems to be this black like "tar", the seal around the windshield and back glass that melted and stained the back seats.
The automatic seatbelts have a mind of their own.
I am the only one at East Carolina University with a Thunderbird Super Coupe!!
This is my first car and I fell in love with the Super Coupe. Best car I think Ford has made, and I especially like the 89 thru 93 models.
The Super Coupe is faster than most stock V8 cars; I love pulling up next to a Mustang at a light and blowing them away!
The one thing I cannot figure out is why there are no cupholders?
My car was babied by the first two owners, and I recieved it with around 90,000 miles, the supercharger barely used. It has had a paint job about three years ago, and she shines proudly. New Michellin X rated all season 225x60 tires handle the road well.
However, there is a rattle when I go over bumps... might be CV joints?
The engine compartment is way too cramped. It was a struggle trying to change the sparkplugs, and if you have to work on the driveshaft, it looks like you will have to remove the exaust system from the catbacks.
Hey Steven my name is Mike and I own a 1990 Ford Thunderbird SC and I want to change the spark plugs on it, help me out here how do I do it, you know it is to crowded to do so. hit me back alright man laters. Michael.
The easiest way to change the plugs is to get them from under the car...
I have just purchased a 1990 sc for 500 dollars it's not starting.
Hey, my name is Anthony, and I am a mechanic and I have owned 9 Thunderbirds between 88's and 94's.
The rattle you hear is the strut arm bar, and to fix it you have to change the bushings; they are a dealer part and they cost about 15 dollars.
Also the 3.8 is a very strong reliable engine, whether it is supercharged or not, but they will overheat very easily and they will blow the head gaskets quickly.
The fog lights also have a mind of their own, and will not work with the high beams, and tend to blow their fuse often, which is also probably why the interior lights don't work.
The seat belt problem I can't figure out yet, but I'm working on it, and they all do that.
On the overheating thing; the radiator is a weak point on the car, and you should change the thermostat or take it out all together. I don't run one in my car, and I don't have the overheating problem in my car. The down side to that is they take a little longer to heat up in the winter, but to me that is a small price to pay for not having the other problem any more.
If it is a five speed then you have nothing to worry about, but if it's an automatic, then don't drive it around in overdrive all the time like a lot of people do, or you will be replacing the transmission in a few years. The overdrive works well, but it's not meant to be used under 55mph.
Also, yes, you do have to remove the exhaust to work on the drive shaft. You also have to remove the gas tank, but you shouldn't have to ever deal with that if you mind what I said about the transmission.
The easiest way to change the spark plugs is not from the bottom; if you don't believe me then go ahead and try that one, but good luck.
Also they are very very hard on brake rotors; they get hot and warp really easily, and the car will shake badly when you go to stop. If this happens, your best bet is to go ahead and spend the extra money on cross drilled or slotted rotors, or both. If not and you drive your car hard like I do, then you will be changing the rotors about every 6 months.
Your car is also very fast, and has a lot of potential to be faster with modification, but performance parts are somewhat hard to come by, but they are out there. Remember your car can use a lot of parts for Mustangs and Cougars of the same time period.
My current car is a 92 T-bird sport with a 94 cobra motor, GT-40 heads, shorty headers, 3.73 gears with a posi unit in an 8.8 rear, an electric fan, a K&N airfilter system, and way too many other mods to mention. It is my favorite T-bird yet, and I plan to keep it for along while.

The ABS lights coming on are because your brake booster accumulator is bad, get one from a junkyard, but since they probably won't have your car look at the lincoln and mercurys, hit that brake about 20 times to relieve the pressure in the system (about 2300psi) and simply unscrew it with a 3/8 ratchet and extension. if you procastinate on this it will fry the compressor which will end up costing you 1200$
