2001 Dodge Stratus from North America - Comments

"Do not buy this car!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Friday, my 2001 Dodge Stratus engine blew. It had 73,000 miles on it. The dealership or the corporation will not stand by them. I am so upset as I still owe on this and now have to purchase another car. I have found thousands of other people in the same boat. Something has to be done. A corporation should not be allowed to get away with this. The Chrysler corporation does not care about their customers.

General comments?

I am starting an egroup for people that are in the same boat. Please go to http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/STRATUSSUCKS/

And sign up. We can discuss this and maybe get ideas from each other. Has anyone talked to the lawyer in Ohio that is starting a lawsuit? What does he say? I am going to call him soon.

My 01 Stratus R/T was the best car I have owned. It has to date over 117,000k. Never had to replace a thing except tires. I take very good care of my cars. Oil changes the whole works when needed. Sorry about your car, but you never know what you get when you buy used. sometimes new cars have problems, but it doesn't happen as often. Good thing for warranty's.

I am sorry to read about some people having problems with the Stratus... I think it is the sedan with the 2.7 six. I and many others have the coupe (R/T or SE) with the 2.4 four or the 3.0 six and we love our cars... no problems. I have 80,000 and the engine runs fine.

I do agree, however, that Chrysler needs to stand behind their warranty so a law suit would be in order.

I also have a 2001 Dodge Stratus 2.7L with only 87,000 miles and the engine just went. No warnings or idiot lights; it just ran rough and then stopped. I had it towed to the dealership and the engine is done!! $2 thousand plus for a new engine, and then I have to hope the transmission doesn't go a month after I get it back.

I bought it new at this dealership and had it maintained there, according to their schedule, and it still quit. They have all the records and forwarded them to Chrysler, so we'll see what happens, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's pretty sad that this car is paid off and it is sitting at the dealer with a blown engine!! It doesn't even have 100,000 miles or 10 years on it...that's sad!! No wonder they are having layoffs no-one wants to buy these pieces of junk.
