Exhaust, bearing on rear left wheel.

Easily fixed and not expensive.

Passat is very comfortable car, maybe little underpowered engine for that heavy chassis. If someone need speed and acceleration buy something else. Car handles very well, but rear end can slip on wet surfaces.

Bottom line is that this car is tough like tank, handles pretty good, and have comfort of Queen Mary.

You are so right, but the Old School Passat was a very good car indeed. Just don't hope for the same reliability with the new model...that's a completely different kettle of fish! I know from bitter personal experience, check others' reviews too.

My opinion is that old school passat is not beauty, but goes very well, and it has the greatest comfort of all cars I had.

It's very reliable, and reminds me on old bettle toughness.

My car has 1.8 l petrol mono motronic 90 hp engine, which lacks power for this chassis, and has somehow big fuel consumption, after my former diesel audi 80.

New passat is very attractive car, but lacks reliability as I can see, the big plus on this car is jewel of the TDI engine.

I just bought a 1991 passat gl and its my first car. The car only had 8400 miles on it when I bought it and lookes brand new inside. It had little problems so far, but nothing serious. The car is fun to drive, but like he said it doesn't have good hp. The car looks small from the outside, but inside its spacious and very comfortable.

Year ago I had a crash in my metallic grey Passat 1.8 90 hp mono motronic.

Renault 25 came to my side and crashed full speed into me.

Both cars are total, but there is differences. My car did not had even windshield broken and altough radiator, battery, AC compressor,engine bay cover and wings are gone. But renault 25 had his engine inside of the passenger bay. Left front wheel of renault was almost under drivers seat, not to mention that renault driver was badly hurt, and I didn't had a scratch, but only neck painthat lasted a month.

Now I have white Passat 3 1.8 112 hp injection with AC, power windows, power stering and much more extras. It is lovely car to drive, and quite quick compared to my crashed car. Even the fuel consumption is lower.
