The car comes with a disfunction water pump and engine heat up half way to school.
The car comes with a head light that doesn't turn on.
The car comes with a exhaust pipe that is not secured tightly, drops half way driving.
Comes with a overturned seat-belts.
A high acceleration car compare to other new 1.5 Wira.
Seat are more comfortable.
Interior and exterior design are better than the previous.
Seat belts are so tight and gets tight while on the drive.
View of the car are bad causes poor visibility when coming out junction or round-abouts.
Body of the car is so soft.
Handling are poor, barely feel the car tail swings when driving.
Power window makes noise when going up or down.
Does not come with a standard full specs like disk changer, fog lights, and reverse sensor compare to other protons models.
That's the problem with Proton... the mitsubishi engine is initially not designed for proton chasis...
Well I just bought one proton wira 2004, I live in Iraq which is the hottest country around this world, here we have this car a very popular one, that's right it's not so tough, but any car even Mercedes will be desroyed if hit another car, that's not a standard, the 2004 wira has marvellous air conditioning, auto. transmission, restfull handling, besides I still have the wira 2002 and didn't visit the service center yet...
Any proton that is meant for export is different..
We have a local version and an export version... Therefore, the export version is much more better than the local version...
Why?? I guess you could've know the reason.
Proton, 20 years of production, yet still unreliable. Every new proton cars will have these this very same problem. Power window that doesn't work. 20 YEARS! Till date, they are still making cars way back in the 80's.
I am Malaysian that bought a new Proton Wira 2.0 Turbo Diesel Export version in year 2001, May. Last year Oct 2004 I had decided to change the original engine due to problem occur and sent to relevant government department for inspection, the result were FAIL due to cut and joint at the front right wheel house. The car I bought never been involve in serious accident, Proton are denying all the responsibilities and try to push to unrelated party. So beware to buy Proton cars.
My proton Wira has never fail me. Many of my neighbours use Wira as well... they say no problems. There is always a percentage of cars having faults whoever the car manufacturer is.
Sorry to say that Proton has been producing Wira dated since 10 years ago, correct me if I am wrong..so.
Most of the plastic injection moulds for the plastic parts they are still using eventhough it have long pass its life span...
Cost reduction is causing worst quality new wira cars.. most parts are not imported from japan anymore.. every 4 months or so Proton will request 10% cost reduction from their local parts manufacturer so to survive their vendors have to find ways to cut cost as well such as using recycled plastic materials, used lower grade paint and etc..
Who give the better price will get the order that is why you can see each batch of wira's used different brand of parts.. you can see some different cars have radiators made from denso.. some APM and etc.. some Goodyear tyres.. now using cheaper simetyres.. so as time goes by you will get cheaper and bad quality parts in your car.
So cost and profit is important to them not quality... as long as the cars function it will pass by its final inspection.. so you've to live with it and you can't compare it with the first generation of Wira which is solid and full accessories.
To avoid this and still support our Malaysian cars I suggest you buy a totally new model not an upgraded model... which has been in the market for almost a century..
If you've comment you can e-mail me at will_kit@hotmail.com.
I have a 1.5GL (manual) Proton Wira sedan (2003).
The air condition is the best among all other parts.
I fixed the safety brackets (for door and lights) the minute I came out of the subang glanmarie office. (suggested by the sales person himself). I fixed it at the Caltex nearby.
Amazingly surpriced that the tyres were not touching the body when on speed breakers and in small pot holes.
Only had a power window problem once. (repaired by the EON service tech during my regular service)
However its 4 years now and I have to annually change my shock absorbers...
Give me ideas on how to improve this situation pls..
Friends suggested me to use wira 1.6 springs instead.
What else can you expect, just drive this car and dump into Port Klang sea or Klang river. This is the worst car that I had ever heard in my whole life.
