A power window motor broke.
The glove compartment won't open.
The paint wore off on the roof.
The air conditioning had to be replaced.
Both of my rear brake lights retain water and dump it into my trunk when I open it - and this is after a dealer "fixed" it.
The defroster doesn't work - also after a dealer "fixed" it.
The windows don't always roll up straight - which can allow water in, and these are only the problems that I don't typically associate with old age and normal wear and tear.
You have to be rich to keep up with all of this car's repairs!!!!
With all due respect the problems that you listed by no means qualify the car as a lemon. They were all superficial problems that do not disrupt the cars reliability.
I am sorry but that does qualify as Lemon because these nuissance problems will drive you up a wall. You should never have that many problems. I have a 91 Accord DX that has a problem. The green sport shifter light keeps coming on by itself. When this occurs the car will not shift higher than 2nd gear. This can happen at anytime but usually occurs when the car is cold, you have to drive around for about an hour for it to behave normal. How do you disable the sport shifter option and make normal the default setting? Email me at cristophe1@rocketmail.com if anyone knows the answer.
I own a 90 Accord LX and the only major problems I ever had was with the engine. It sucked a valve and then after spending 600 big ones to fix it, 3 months later it did the same thing. If anyone else has this problem, here are some words of wisdom, just replace the engine. I put the VTEC motor out of a 94 Accord EX in my car for $1300. I believe it was well worth it. If you have any questions regarding this, email me at AccordGod@yahoo.com
Hi,
I also have a 1990 Honda Accord LX. My worst problem to date is a broken driver door latch mechanism. I am unable to open the door and also remove the inside door panel. I was told by a dealer mechanic to drill into the door latch. It's not as easy as it sounds and I still have not succeeded. If anyone can tell me how to open my door or get the door latch mechanism to release the latch, please e-mail me at:

I don't think your views are reflective of all '90 Honda accords. If you have these numerous problems it will be that the car hasn't been well looked after. Maybe you should try getting a Vauxhall or Ford and see what I'm on about. I've had them both (Ford Fiesta 93) and (Vauxhall Cavalier 89) They are cars made about the same time as the 90 Accord and they have nothing in common with this car. This car is a beauty.
Just bought my 1990 Accord LX. It has 154000 but beings it was a Honda that didn't scare me.
Handles great. Have a 1997 Aerostar as back up, but like this much better.
Have only one problem, water in trunk. Guess I will just open up plugs and put rubber and let water find its way out!
Any comments on water problem? chasel23@aol.com.
I traded in my 1996 Ford Probe GT for a 1990 Honda Accord EX Coupe. My new coupe has 165,000 miles and runs and drives better then the 120,000 mile Probe GT. I wish I would have known that Honda's were such great cars, I will never buy anything else. Good work Honda!
I have a Honda accord 1990, my problem is when I turn the ignition key to position II, I don't have power or the lights on the dashboard are off. If I turn it to position III it will start, but when I let go the key the engine well go off. I checked the ignition wire and the yellow wire have no voltage. Can you help me to find where the problem might be? soloabiy@aol.com.
Help!
I have a 1990 Honda Accord with 146,000 miles on it. It is using a lot of oil, a quart ever 400 miles. It doesn't smoke or leak. Any suggestions?

I have a 91 Honda Accord. The check engine light keeps coming on. I have had the timing belts changed, all the seals and rings, the valves, the oxygen sensor, head gasket thingy. The problem I have been having is that the car looses power between 20 and 30 miles per hour, then the engine races and the car seems to straighten out, but the check engine light comes on and stays on. My mechanic says that it couldn't be the fuel filter, or fuel pump because it is a fuel injector system. I am really getting frustrated with this car. It only has 123,000 miles on it and I want to keep it, however I cannot take the chance of the car loosing power when I am trying to accelerate to get on the freeway. Can anybody out there help me? Also my mechanic said that after he did all the work, and the same syptoms appeared, he took the cover off of the computer that is under the passenger floor board. He said when he did that the car ran great, it did for a while, now the same old problem is coming back. Please can anybody help me? If you have an answer please e mail me at schreinc@idhw.state.id.us Thank you.
This message is for schreinc.
It looks that the ECU reads a problem from one of the sensors. It might be from a bad sensor, or from disconnected or damaged wires or grounding. Can't help more, but having the car inspected by a (good) Honda dealer may help you.
Words of wisdom. Get a good mechanic, and make sure you study the history of your car before you buy it.
He just want to say I've had a real lemon in the past and some of this stuff is a bit small to worry about, but now I have a 1990 honda accord ex and it has 175,000 ml on it and still runs great my only worry is the auto trans is a bit shaky, but hey I'm in Tampa, Florida and it's from Alaska and still looks next to brand new
if you have any real?'s you can e-mail me at grsab1@eathlink.net and I might have an answer even if it's the little stuff. oh and any one know how to get the seat part of the back seat out with out damaging it thanks

The 1990 honda accord lx has been running good so far, but the problems that I have is that windows won't work on second position key, it does work sometimes. The water seems to leak in to the trunk whenver it rains or I wash it. Also the windows don't roll up straight, but it still is an o.k. car.
I have seen a lot of folks having problems with leaky trunks on thier Accords, I had the same problem and so does every other Accord owner (unless they live in the desert). But there is a fix and mine has not leaked since I did this.
Open the trunk and look behind the rubber gasket ring in the groove that water runs into (you don't have to remove the rubber). Above the fender (on both sides of the car) there is a welded groove where the fender connects to the truck of the car. Caulk this joint on both sides (left and right fender) AND caulk the tail light assemblies. This is simply a design flaw, but if you caulk the fender joints and NOT the tail lights water will just run by your trunk and into the lights- so do yourself a favor and caulk both joints. Then leave your trunk open for awhile to air out or it will stink like hell- but that should cure the leak if you do it right.
