WOW, great car, not that many about. Can only be reconised by the small V6 badge by the front wheel arch and a chrome tail pipe.
Very quick. Good acceleration before you reach 5000rpm, then it really kicks in with the 24v's. Watch your petrol gauge go down. Engine sounds great, has that typical V6 growl. Standard BHP 200, not bad for a family saloon car. First gear ratio is way too short, but second is great.
Interior is very nicely laid out, it has everything you would expect in this sort of model. It is a great car to drive and would I recommend it to anyone that is after a high performance car.
One thing to watch, you must have a deep pocket when it comes to petrol, or you can just drive very slow, which you will find be a tad impossible once you have experienced the power behind this family saloon car/Beast.
I've been looking for a slightly different, high spec, economical, used car. I have just bought The Peugeot 406 v6 executive and it has satisfied every one of my criteria.
The previous owner had installed an LPG conversion and I am getting an equivalent economy of 52 miles to the gallon! It's six years old and there is no rust anywhere, the interior leather seats and trim are in very good condition and every conceivable extra seems to work perfectly. It has done 130,000 miles with a slightly less than perfect service record i. e 10,000 miles overdue.
There is a beautiful growl that emanates from the v6 lump which seems to work best in the upper speed ranges i. e from 80 to 130 mph its smooth and fast, I didn't push it further, but it was still pulling, (should I mention autobahns now?.
The overall ride is excellent, I didn't detect any undue instability and the ABS brakes seem more than adequate.
I believe This car cost around £25,000 to £30,000 when new. I am very pleased with my £3,000 piece of second hand luxury, They are hard to find, but well worth looking for, Happy hunting!
