"Buying an Alfa is a lucky dip, fortunately I got lucky"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Air bag light warning on dash lights up.

Lambda sensor problems when fitting a new exhaust.

Paint is way to thin, chips easily.

Electric window switch snapped off.

Creeky cabin noises can get annoying.

Small boot space.

General comments?

This alfa is a wonderfull car to drive, Very nice performance with a genuinely sexy engine tone. Great road holding and a pleasure to look at. The interior is very stylistic with beautiful dials all aimed at the driver. Seriously comfy Alfa logo Recaro buckets add a nice sporty feel to the cabin. The 156 is without doubt the best looking in its class and probably the most envolving to drive with a very smooth gear change (although a bit slugish until you reach 2500 rpm when the power kicks in, but once its there it's a joy (. The sport pack adds a rather large boot spoiler, side skirts and front spoiler which only add to the 156's appeal although the lowered suspension is a pain over speed bumps. Boot space is at a premium and is worth some consideration, but is only a minor gripe. I really feel buying an Alfa is a choice made more by your heart than your head, no other car in this class can compete with the style and pedigree of owning an alfa, Its pot luck if you get a good one, but if you do you will never regret it... feeling lucky punk??!

I agree completely.

The same things went wrong with my 156. The hand break light comes on often enough when driving too.

The creaking inside the cabin is usually caused by the bushes in the front upper wishbones, it reverberates through to the cabin making it sound like it is coming from the dash. They are an easy change though.
