Around 40000 km I have changed spark plugs and cables for them.
60000 changed all engine belts.
That's about all.
Car runs smooth all this time and I never had any problems with it except spark plugs which were replaced.
Handling is good on uneven surfaces cause of the soft suspension setup which is stock, but it lacks precision on flat surfaces. Brakes are OK, but they need to be warmed up before any hard braking, it takes about 2 or 3 stops to warm them up.
Comfortable, cheap and reliable, uses around 8L of gas per 100Km.
1998 Daewoo Lanos l.5 single overhead cam two door:I found the door handles break really easy, I then went to the wreckers to get a replacement and all the driver side handles were gone bar one out of 20 wrecks, I replaced the outer cv boots and found them a little to small and the clamps that hold them on are crap! The dash cracks in the sun easy, also had to replace both window winder cables-they snapped. Hasn't got a drain plug on the transmission so you have to take the transmission pan off -really stupid! The seats mechanisms fail also, the interior isn't the toughest Iv'e seen. Prone to leak out of the distributor housing where it bolts on to the head -the o ring fails. Tappet cover gasket leaked -replaced it. Heaps of road noise! Electrics good, paint is tough, plugs and leads need constant checking, Not a bad car on fuel but have found by comparison of the 30 cars I have owned it's been more prone to failuers in various places - would I recommend this car -no!! Replacement parts aren't always up to the cars specifications-makes it difficult doing repairs!in my view an average car. Radio works sometimes doesn't pick up FM frequency, suspension starts to get soft and fail at 95.000km.
