I overheated and blew the engine at 250,000 miles.
I have really enjoyed owning this truck. I have plans to restore it soon. The only problem is that it I very hard to get good parts for it.
Your Courier is basically the same truck as the pickup sold by Mazda back then, if that is any help in finding parts.
Unless the body is almost rust-free, it's probably not worth restoring though. Like everything else made in Japan in the '70's, they rusted like mad unless they were in a desert climate.
Sounds like its time for a small block ford to me. 302 0r 351w goes right in really easy. We have three in our family. They drive so much better its like it was meant to be. Sold my 5.0. Never sell my truck. 351w, 5speed,9''. This is the most fun I've ever had with a hotrod...
Can anyone tell me where to find the vin or engine ser number on my 72 courrier?

Would like more info on a small block swap for the ford courier.
The truck is a great little thing to have. They only have one flaw, the motors suck. The best thing to do is drop in a small block FORD engine. They are also great to teach your kids to drive in. What can I say they are built like tanks.
I would more info on a 302 motor swap in a 1972 ford courier, and what parts to use, tranny, headers ext. aprlfult@aol.com
I am presently the owner of a 1973 Ford Courier which is number 4 of these I have owned. I have My truck is original except for the following: I have installed a 5 speed transmission in it from a 1981 Courier; a second heater core for our Canadian winters; and shoulder belts. I have a number of body parts and I also know where there are a number of hulks here in Alberta Canada, plus three trucks besides mine which are still running. I would like to contact owners who wish to form a Courier Club and exchange information and source parts. I can be contacted at the following "e" mail address:::jalberta@telus.net. Regards, Len Jalbert.
