I have had the rotors replaced once which helped the brakes since I put in heavier rotors.
I have had both door panels replaced twice..
I have had the trim replaced under warranty..
Had the car repainted one year.
Had the air conditioner coil replaced under warranty, the tilt fixed and the bright light and signal unit replaced..
Most of the work has been under warranty in the first year, after that a great car!
I love the speed of the car and that mine is stylish. The braking system in this car is not the best and it likes to break shocks. But I plan on getting another GM product, maybe another Olds.
I bought a 1994 Achieva S coupe in June 2000. It is now January 2001 and this car is holding up great.
The only real problem that I have had was that I broke the lever to pop the hood, but I found a way to pop the hood anyway, so I quess it is not a big problem.
My goal is to make this car high performance. I have started with a K&N air filter and a Flowmaster high performance muffler, that brings the horsepower up to 200.
I have added some things for style as well, such as a blue and black steering wheel cover and blue and black seat covers. I still have a lot to do with the interior, but none of it needs to be done.
When I bought the car it already had an impressive interior and exterior. I have also put stylish parts on the exterior, such as black outs (black headlight covers) and new sporty hub caps. The windows have been tinted for a more sporty look. I would buy rims but for now I am putting the money toward some more high performance parts that will bring the car's horsepower up to about 350. All the parts however will be removable and can be exchanged with its original parts so that it will not lose its value in the future when it could posibly be a collectable.
I put only the best wax on it. This white car shines up very well. I also put on the best tire shining gel there is.
So this car looks good, goes reasonably fast, and handles extremely well. This car is pretty lightweight because most of its body is made of mostly ABS plastic. And though it is not super fast, I have got mine to 62 mph in first gear.
Overall this is a fun car to drive and has been turning some heads. This is a great car and holds up great.
I just bought a 1996 Achieva for $2500. It was "broken in" with 155000 miles when I bought it. I was originally going to just use it as a people mover, but have decided that I want to try something different, and wish to soup it up some. I have absolutely no idea where to start, since the market today in my area is geared towards Japanese and German subcompacts. I see all types of "rice burners" buzzing down my street, and ask, why not go for an Olds Achieva Type R? I have found the car somewhat easy to work on, minus the fact that half the bolts are standard, and the other half metric. An obvious GM flaw that completely baffles me. I think in my adventure to soup up my Achieva, I'll start with the intake and exhaust, and move to the engine, and maybe get a trick muffler tip or a Flowmaster. If anyone knows any helpful tips, or of places that have body kits and performance parts for my Olds, please e-mail me at Sniperontherooftop@Hotmail.com.
Hey I would like some help finding a body kit for a 96 oldsmobile achieva. If you can give me any info, that would be great. Send the info to pimpdude66@yahoo.com. Thanks.
