"The best car I have ever had"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing except for the front lights went out at 154000 km.

General comments?

This is the best car I have ever driven.

Not much to look at, people make fun of me constantly, but I love my Taunus.

What is a Taunus? Is it a van/SUV type vehicle, a coupe, or sedan? If it has an American version, maybe it will help if you give us the name.

Thank you,

Taunus was almost the same like Ford Cortina. There was 3 models:

TC1 7/1970-12/1975

TC2 1/1976-8/1979

TC3 9/1979-8/1983

Body style with 2/4 doors sedan, coupe and estate.

Engines: 1.3,1.6 and 2.0 4 cyl (OHC) and 2.0 and 2.3 V6 (OHV).

Hope this will help.

I agree on the taunus looking like a cortina, but the cortina was an overall larger car... meanwhile I beleive this car is called trunus in some parts of the world.

Taunus is the German (or continental) version of good old Cortina - basically the same, at least the last 2 models - MK IV and MK V.

I still have a 1993 Taunus GTS (made in Turkey) It has a completely new interior and a slightly different exterior design. It is also the most comfortable car I have ever driven. It is a 5-Speed 2 liter car and has power steering, power front windows and A/C. Taunus cars were last manufactured in Turkey by Ford Otosan from 1986 to 1993, which few people know.

A Taunus IS a Cortina only the name was changed - all of Europe got the German Taunus and Brits got the Cortina and there were Mk 3,4 and 5 versions in 2Dr,4Dr and estate versions which were called Turnier's in Germany The Germans also never got the 1300/1600 Cross-flow of the Cortina and always had the OHC 'Pinto'engines from 1300 thru to 2000cc.

I learned to drive on a Cortina and I continued to drive it for 10 years. I am still trying to find a car like this, but there is not any possibility. Now I am trying to find an historic car. Hello from Greece.

I still enjoy my 1993 Taunus GTS,- it has been 10 years since I bought it and I have made more than 250,000 kms- and it goes perfectly well. You can see its pictures and other taunuses in: http://fordgaleri2.blogcu.com/page2.

Regarding spare parts, since you live in Bosnia I doubt you can find spare parts with ease. Try german or swedish sites; there were a lot of Taunuses sold in Sweden.
