Next time you post a review why don't you try using the spellcheck?

I had an 83 Riv, beautiful car, but unfortunately the 307 motors that Buick had at that time were notorious for rings going bad and cases of overheating...a few of my friends experienced similar problems... other than that I loved my Riv!

I find ALL comments on the 83, 84 and 85 Buick Riviera to be highly informative to a prospective buyer, here in the UK. It would seem that GM's 4 speed automatic transmission with electronic Overdrive is very unreliable, compared to its earlier 3 speed transmission.

From reading many of these excellent reviews, it would seem that US cars up to the late 1970's are much less complicated and more reliable than their 1980's counterparts.

I have a 1983 buick reviera and it is a wonderfull car and yes the alternator is going out on it, but it gets about 20 mpg and only has 69,045 miles I'm the second owner ans it is fast! really fast! if I gas it in a turn screeeeeech it just burns the left front tire nearly off, I've raced it a few times and it will actualy out run an s-10 with a v8 305 and completely smoke a state trooper... oops! ;) the 307 buick is a wonderfull motor in my opinion and it's a wonderfull car ugly, but functional and comfortable.
