1993 Nissan Maxima SE from North America - Comments

"Nissan 4DSC"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

So far...

The left front CV half shaft had to be replaced at 189,450.

Front fog lights not working. Left one is broken from hitting a curb.

Dash Clock doesn't work right. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

It has the dreaded VTC problem. Put synthetic oil in it and now is quiet most of the time.

General comments?

So far this car is perfect compared to my previous car the Plymouth Sundance. When I bought the car in December 2004 I knew the CV was going to need replaced. The Maxima is smooth and quiet and is faster than most four door sedans. I love passing people in the maxima its great! It really is a 4DSC!

I wonder if this is the same guy who started the argument with another review calling the Maxima a sports car.

If so, he must have a lot of time on his hands...

I don't care what anybody says, in my book the Maxima is not, never was, nor will it ever be a sports car.

I don't care what anyone says, if you ever and I can't stress this enough, have rode in the 1993 SE with the wonderful CVT option you will change your mind about the Maxima not being a sports car. Secondly I'm sorry hon, but if you belive that the CVT or VVT as it is so commonly refered to as is a dreadful problem you do not need that car, the so called problem that you mentioned is the most intelegent creation to be placed on an engine since direct injecton, sure the vehicle needs some minor things to be concentrated on slightly more than a regular car, but then again this particular model is not a regular car. if you ever wnat to sell the hunk a junk e-mail me at curti18u@insightbb.com.
