Could use a little more power. Wish the rear struts had of held up better. More importantly, I wish the transmission had of held up more. But what do you expect after 295000 kms?
While not exactly sporty, my taurus was a comfortable and reliable car. It's starting to show it's age and wear now with the burnt trans fuild and the drivers door that won't open. The door problem is extremely annoying. In addition to that, one of the rear struts makes a strange noise. Overall though, I'm pleased with how reliable the car has been. It was my parents car before I bought it in 2002, and they never had any problems with it. They bought a new Taurus in 2002 and hav'ent been as lucky. I'm conflicted as to weather or not I should fix the door and get another trans installed, or junk it. While it had 295000 km on it, the engine is still smooth as butter. Part of that is due to the fact that I changed the oil on time and treated the car to some plugs, wires, and cap/roter. I've never had it tuned up at a shop.
Get it fixed, keep up to date on maintenance, and it will keep on running forever. The engine will outlive the trans and body.
