The car was bought brand new.
Continually suffering with electrical engine problem.
The Car has on a previous occasion lost all electrical and engine power at 70mph on the motorway/freeway.
The car has been back to the dealer and manufactuer who perform minor repair and give it back.
Car has proved to be dangerous and unsafe.
A pity, as it's a nice car (Looks wise)
I have just bought a streetka winter edition which I absolutley adore I have had no problems with it at all it is stunning and gets a lot of attention when I'm out and about, have heard a lot of people slagging the streetka off saying it's a waste of money and a hairdressers car, wonder what they drive?
I saw the StreetKA years ago when it was at the motor show. I set my heart on getting one. I bought mine from new in January 2004. It has been continually showing the engine warning light and losing power completely, putting me in many dangerous situations since it was 6 months old. I picked it up this morning from the Ford dealership who sold me it. This is the ninth time it has been in for the same problem and I have totally lost faith in this car and wish I had never bought it. It looks great, but unfortunately it is a rather expensive ornament in my case. I'm away to buy a different car if the warning light would stay off long enough to trade it in.
16th March posting.
Your comment reminds me of a colleague who was slating someone for having bought a Ford Cosworth Sapphire many years ago.
I let him rattle on for a while, then asked him what he drove?
He turned red and wouldn't answer me. Someone else piped up that he had a 20-year-old, very rusty minivan.
Gave us a lot of laughs.

I bought my Street Ka in June 2005. Never had any mechanical problems with it (touch wood). When it was delivered to the dealership the roof was damaged and it had to go back a week later for it to be replaced. Then the alarm kept going off after I had locked it so it went back and they said it was something to do with the settings after the roof had been replaced on it. In general I think it's a good little car, lovely to drive in the summer, but am learning now its not much fun to drive in the winter. Think its overpriced for what it is and miss having a hard top now the winters here. Feel that this car is great if you've got a garage to put it in during the winter and get it out again in the summer. Definately a girls car.
I bought my Streetka winter edition in April 2004 and I absolutely love it to bits.
I've had a problem with the engine light coming on and recently with loss of power. The latest incident has resulted in the wiring loom (?) having to be replaced along with the PCM (?). I saw the car three days ago and it was virtually a shell with four wheels and an engine and anything remotely electrical had been stripped out.
I've searched the web and found a few comments from people with similar problems re engine lights and loss of power so perhaps this is a bigger problem than we realise.
To add insult to injury they've just called to say that the car is ready for collection - oh and by the way the front tyres are worn on the inside and will need replacing very soon. The car has only done 11,000 miles.
The guys I work with are convinced this is due to suspension or tracking problems. Anyone else had this problem?
Needless to say, I will be changing my car very soon!
I bought my little Streetka on impulse, actually on a drive back from the tip in July 2004.
I was impressed by it's style on a sloping ramp on the garage forecourt.
Took it for a test drive the following day and have loved it ever since.
Touch wood, it has never let me down, though I did have trouble with the alarm going off after putting the hood up, just a case of seating the hood cover correctly.
She still looks good almost 2 years later.
Really love those drives home from work in the summer with the top down.

We had a the Winter Edition from March 04. The only real problems we've had are the level of service we got from TC Harrison's. Shocking is all I can say. Oh and the depreciation.
I bought my Streetka winter addition in August 05 and have had nothing, but problems with the Alarm. The car has been into several different Ford garages, none of which can repair the fault. I have had the car returned from these garages over 15 times, each time being informed that the car has been fixed. Within a week of the car being returned the alarm never fails to go off for no reason.
I have had the car for nearly a Year now, but unfortunately rarely get to drive it as it is always in the Garage.
My parents have a StreetKa Luxury on an 03 reg. Bought new, done 33,000 miles and not a single fault to its name.

I bought an 04 streetKA 2nd hand. I love it, but have had very bad alarm problems. After sending it in a few times they managed to work out that it was due to the sensors in the boot and roof conpartment. The problem went after this.
Now I am having problems with it losing power and the fault light coming on. It has been in a few times and they can't work it out. At the moment it sounds like a 20 year old banger. Can anyone help with what it might be as the garage can't work it out?
If you are losing power and the car is running noisy, check your exhaust system for holes etc (also is the car drinking more fuel than normal because a hole in the exhaust can cause this).
What warning light is coming on, is it the engine oil pressure light?
I bought the Ford Street ka Winter edition about 6 months ago now, and have never once had a problem with the car! The car is gorgeous and I would not swap it for any other! I have got a soft top and the hard top, the soft top is great for the summer and the hard top is great for the winter (as it is designed for). Although the car would still be great, for the winter with only the soft top. I have only good things to say about this car!

I have had a streetka soft top version for three years and have been delighted with it. Not one problem. I love driving it with the roof down. This is a classic car.
I bought my Ford Streetka last year in March 2006 (brand new) and I have had no problems with it until now. I have experienced loss of power a fair few times whilst driving, but thought it might have been some dirt in the petrol I was using.
When I went for a drive yesterday, the same thing happened again (please bear in mind that I took it in for a full service at a Ford dealership just 2 days before) and the engine warning light came on.
I asked the Ford dealership when I took my car in for service if they could have a look at the problem I was referring to. They said that they would hook it up to a system that hacked in to your car's computer and they would charge you £60 if no fault was found, but they wouldn't charge you if a fault was found.
Now I thought that with my car still being under warranty that they would perform this service for free???
Obviously not. So I thought I'd see if it happens again, just in case the other times were flukes.
Well, I can see from a lot of comments on this board that we all seem to be having the same problem.
I love my little streeka lux although recently have noticed it has started to leak quite badly when it rains through the top of the window, any one else had this problem? also mine does often loose power when pulling off, but I've got use to it now and no warning light has ever come on.
