Great condition nothing major so far failed mot on badly alligned rear brakes, but that was only 50 quid.
New alternator belt, but that was a fiver so nothing serious according to most 205 enthusiasts the headgasket is due to go at about 80000. and mine has sprung a small oil leak.
Great car excellent fun. only a 1.4 but the low ratio gear box in the xs gives it a bit of extra kick. does 0-60 in 9.3 aprox loses power severely after 3rd gear though and has a top speed of 112 at the red line. down hill can reach 120 but its not healthy. handles well, very well if lowered, this car is for town driving as its very nippy and can beat a lot of cars off the mark. this is due to having the 1.4 citreon ax gt engine in it and the light weight. the Ax has a 0-60 of about 8.8 however due to the weight ratio the pug is still v light though weighing in at 800kg causing it to wheel spin to easily sometimes. best thing though is the ax is insurance group 12 I think, the pug is only 7 and you get a better ride only draw back is its not quite as quick. but you will beat fiestas, novas, polos, civics, golfs and many more of equal engine size or not in some cases.
Citroen AX GT is insurance class 9.
I've got one, same year, xy engine.
The '87 uses the old talbot motor and I think your figures are going off the later tu engined xs.
0-60 was over ten seconds when new.
The front end seems a bit light to me, but the car handles nicely. Nippy, not fast. Rear axles go on them, fault with the 205, will squeak for years without falling off!
100 quid for a second hand rear axle - so I've heard.
My engine refuses to die, got 200 thousand kilometres on and I don't look after it all that well!
