Brake Pads were worn on purchase hence a discounted price.
Front and rear bearings all went at the same time at about 95000
Multi V Belt went a few weeks ago.
All of the repairs done in this car have all been standard repairs needed on any car at some point.
When I bought the car last year it'd done 860000 now 7 months later its done 115000 and despite that incredibly high mileage for the 7 month gap its still running absolutly fine and has taken me from one end of the country to another many times without grumble.
OK so its not the most comfortable of cars, but for a 1990 what do you expect!!!
As for noise, when I first bought it the noise was horrendous as its lowered 45mm, but a quick coating of dynamat throughout the interior the only thing that can now be heard is the engine.
I had one and it was still going great after going round the clock twice. As for petrol it seemed to go for ever on five pounds worth. I had a 1.4 CVH Engined Escort and what a soft engine they seemed to be compared to the OHV engines.
I own an Eclipse, and I have to say it is a great little car. The whole sporty look, looks great, and have had no problems, except one of the rear wheel bearings needed replacing.
The Engine runs great, a little sluggish when fully loaded with camping gear. the extras side is good too, electric window's, central locking, sunroof, and a big spoiler.
My Eclipse is now 16 years old, and still going strong. looking forward to having year's of pleasure from it!
I bought an eclipse with 59000 miles it needed one wheel bearing and two tyresto pass the mot. I drove this car 400 miles each week going to work and then probably anoher 70 miles at the weekends, my job was working on a building site the car was loaded up with tools and I also took two men to work, the car was reliable economicle, and everybody.
On site was waiting for it to break down, i really abused this car, but what I did do every four weeks was a oil change and oil filter, and clean out the air filter. AT the end of the year the bodywork was very rough after being hit by lorries etc I decided to scrap the car after removing all my gear I lifted the carpetin the boot and found service reaching a total of 106,000 miles, these fords start again when 100,000 miles is reached when I took mine to the scrapyard it had the total mileage of 175,000.I went back to the scapyard afew weeks later and found out that someone had bought the engine and gearbox, and at the time I thought they don't know what a little GEM OF AN ENGINE they have bought.
