What things have gone wrong with the car?

Car often fails to start.

The brakes failed for a period and they squeak.

The muffler is rapidly deteriorating (when touched it cracks)

General comments?

This car has good performance (not sure of the power).

Good handling.

It takes too much fuel, not good for a first car.

Alright body looks, interior spacious and comfortable though boring.

OK your ignition problem is very common as the ignition gets old and hot it gums up with resin. you can dismantle it yourself and clean it up, but it is easier to replace the lock not cheaper, but is easier.

Your squeaky brakes are related to your disks. they have probably been warped. when they get wet and are extremely hot then they slightly warp. and squeak when rotating it is not visible to the naked eye, but you can check for yourself with a bit of mucking around.

Use something as a version of a guide/mark point (a nail on a stick will do it and then you spin the disk you can see the warp it is weird, but does work.

Mufflers do ware out in time so that can explain that easily lol.

I know this cos I used to drive this model when I was a cabbie a few years ago thanks cos you reminded me of what went wrong when the cab was driven by me these issues are common and I expect when I go buy my version of this car I expect I will have same issues as you have had.
