At approximately 35,000 miles the rear calipers seized. This happened while I was on my way to investigate the violent vibration in the steering wheel when the car moved at greater than 50 mph (the vibration turned out to be directly related to mounting a tire of less quality than the factory-installed brand).
Now, at 72,000 miles, the power steering pump has failed.
I love this car and the way she handles. Unfortunately, she's completely unreliable and costs an arm and a leg to repair. Neither my '93 Maxima nor my '88 Stanza, together, gave me as much trouble as this I30.
I agree completely--Mine is at 75,000 and have gone through rotors several times. Dealer machines them and within 3 months and about 1500 miles, the rotors are too thin to work on again. Extremely expensive upkeep on this car. Much more than others in price range.
I had a similar problem too. I went on the web and purchased 4 "Brembo" rotors and got stock soft Nissan
pads. I did the work myself and there has been no
vibration or steering wheel jumping for over 50k.
