Honestly my defender never once let me down.
Wait I lied, I once had both the right front as well as the right rear tyre slashed by a rock outcropping on the maluti mountains.
My defender 90 gave me the confidence to traverse 60000 kilometres of the roughest most inhospitable terrain africa has to offer.
I would confidently load up my 90,gather my wife and two children aged 4 and 8 and head for the wildest, driest, harshest, rockiest, furthest, most inhospitable most unthinkable destination.
I never carried spare parts/tools etc as I quite honestly haven't got a clue when it comes to engines etc.
I have never found an offroad obstacle / condition that the defender was not capable of handling.
As mentioned, I put the lives of my family as well as myself into the capability as well as reliability of my defender.
Absolutely the best 4x4xfar no doubt whatsoever.
I wouldn't want to be his wife or one of his kids. I love Landy's, but this guy is just begging to be struck by lightning. Glad you like your landy so much though.
At 60 000 kms it would be a good idea to get friendly with your bank manager since you are almost due for an expensive gearbox bearing replacement, especially with the South African assembled Defender.
I just bought myself a Defender 90. What would you guys consider as VERY important to using your Landie? Which equipment is VITAL??!!
Well depends what you are using it for, if its just general road use nothing, but if you off roading then probably a winch, snorkel and definitely diff guards!!!
I own a Land Rover Defender TD5 1999 model and it has a very jerky/touchy accelerator and just seems to start kangaroo hopping at the low speeds even in 1st gear. i was wandering if anybody else has this problem with there TD5 motor?? is it the same with all TD5's or is it a problem with only some of the vehicles?? is there any cure or way to fix this problem??
